On the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birth, join Art Macabre Drawing Salons to explore and celebrate Dickens’ particularly dark portrayals of love and relationships. From bad romance to bleak bridezillas, Great Expectations to Oliver, draw characters as you listen to literary delights. Explore the complexities of the human heart at this pre-Valentine’s Victorian special edition of the salon.

We’ve got not one, not two, but a total of 5 frightfully festive salons in store for you lucky little deadly drawing fiends. A winter treat, indeed!

So get ready to wrap yourselves up in furs (real or fake, your choice) and join us on an adventure as we delve into the distinctively dark nature of Russian fairytale and folklore for our December events.

GET READY TO BE CHILLED TO THE BONE with tales of terrifying characters such as Baba Yagar, those that will not die, houses made of chicken bones, skull lanterns and much more.

We’ve got our special salon at Cass Art on Tues 20th December, tix available now for an alternitive festive treat, plus we’re appearing for 4 consecutive nights at the Bargehouse, Southbank as part of Crick Crack Club’s festival of fairytales for grown ups: ‘Angels Aren’t Just for Christmas’.

Exploring the traditions and rituals of Dia de los Muertos, join us to celebrate the living and the dead at a distinctively Mexican flavoured salon. Shrines and altars, macabre marigolds, sugar skull faced characters and colourful costumes.

Doctor Death is in town for Halloween, and he’s making house calls! Art Macabre Drawing Salons presents, for your delight, disgust and drawing pleasure, a sample of the highlights from the good doctor’s cabinet of curiosity at this pop-up surgery. Expect gore galore, as we inject a lethal dose of the macabre and theatrical back into drawing.

- The Nip-tuck nightmare: when beauty turns ugly. See the results of one of the doctor’s previous patients as we unravel the blood-stained bandages…oh mummy!

We had a brilliant time among the forest creatures in attendance and had some great artists, of all ages, dropping by to the pop-up salons we held in the beautiful Forest of Thoughts art, science and cabaret tent as part of this Brighton-based festival weekend.
