Caw caw, caw caw! February’s salon took inspiration from Hitchcock and other ornithological horror stories to bring you BIRDS OF PREY. Raven Rouge welcomed a young woman called Melanie Daniels to her Little Shop of Birds, and you saw the bloody consequences as our feathered friends flocked together under a full moon and were released from their gilded cages. The powerful performance from Raven Six saw blood-red glitter pour from the eyes and mouths of skulls, an ominous climax to the burlesque routine. She posed with giant black wings outstretched and fierce looks to the audience. Then the wild, cannibalistic rare breed ‘Vulturalis Macabres Necropilis’ strutted her stuff, feasted on bones and baby’s hands in her nest and threatened to attack your hostess before flying away in to the night…A night of great tits, angry birds and ravenous ravens, with lots of glitter and some chocolate nest cakes thrown in for good measure.
Thanks to all our models: Raven Six aka Tigz Rice, Ava Iscariot and Jennifer Farmer (aka one half of Coffee + Sponge) plus assistants Linsay Trerise, Jon Attfield and John Heath, plus thanks to Sam for the loan of his amazing taxidermied bird! And of course top wildlife photographer David (not Attenborough) but David Geewai Ho. All photos (C) Art Macabre 2013 & David Geewai Ho (http://geewaiho.blogspot.co.uk)

Tremendously excited for the Angela Carter one! Although slightly nervous about how my scribbles will compare to that lot…
