In Nov 2012, to link in to London Magic Week taking place in the city at the same time, we looked to Black Magic for inspiration. There was old school stage show magic, with a messy ending due to an accident with some swords. Then also bone conjuring and the art of necromancy, with some spells cast and blood potions drunk.
We learned some drawing tricks and witnessed a woman sawed in half (or quarters)! Levitating skulls, disappearing underwear and failed escapology! The legendary ‘Whoudini the Bone-Conjurer’ dusted off his top hat to revive his classic magic show, in all its sequinned and gory glory, to the peril of his long-suffering assistant.
There were rabbits in hats, hypnotism tricks, illusions and raising of corpses. Plus some amazing artworks created faster than you can say “abracadabra” Take a look for yourself. All images thanks photographer Aaron Jacob Jones, copyright Art Macabre 2012.
